Hold on to your popcorn, folks, because NJPW’s Gabe Kidd just pulled out all the stops in a fiery tirade against AEW star Kenny Omega. After what looked like a staged-yet-fiery confrontation at NJPW’s Power Struggle event, Kidd has gone on record to settle the score. Omega, back in action after a lengthy battle with diverticulitis, was making his grand return announcement when Kidd approached with an energy that could rival a bull in a china shop.

According to Kidd, he simply “went to talk” to Omega. Yet, judging by the heated exchange that ensued, it was clear he wasn’t stopping by to borrow a cup of sugar. “I knew where he was gonna be after he got off the mic,” Kidd told Fightful Select, oozing with confidence. In what could be one of the spiciest verbal spats we’ve seen in a while, Kidd reminded Omega—and the wrestling world—that he’s not here to play nice.

Let’s rewind to what really sparked this powder keg: Kidd took a shot at Omega on Twitter, and Omega’s response wasn’t exactly warm and fuzzy. “He wrote some paragraph back to me about, ‘Maybe if you’re lucky and win the G1 I’ll bless you with the Kenny Omega touch,'” Kidd recounted, clearly unimpressed. His response? Priceless. “I was like, you think I give a f*** about you, geez?”

Not one to let an insult go unchecked, Kidd accused Omega of trolling him with a schoolyard-style misnaming, calling him “Greg Kidd” to the delight—or bewilderment—of wrestling fans everywhere. And for the cherry on top, Kidd added, “All these guys, like MJF and Kenny, think they’re acting so cool when they get my name wrong.” Shots. Fired.

Whether this sets the stage for a real NJPW showdown or just fuels the rumor mill, one thing’s for sure: Gabe Kidd isn’t about to let Kenny Omega stroll back into NJPW without a little grit in his path.
