Fans of Adam Copeland have reason to cheer: the WWE Hall of Famer has reportedly been cleared for physicality following the tibia injury he sustained at Double or Nothing in May during his brutal steel cage match with Malakai Black. But don’t expect Copeland to jump back into AEW programming just yet—his return is tied up with his Hollywood commitments and ongoing hurricane relief efforts.
According to PWInsider Elite, Copeland is busy filming the second season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians for Disney+, where he portrays Ares, the God of War. Production is expected to wrap in January, meaning the “Rated R Superstar” likely won’t be appearing regularly in AEW until early 2025.
In the meantime, Copeland has been keeping active in his home community of Asheville, North Carolina. AEW President Tony Khan recently shared that Copeland has been assisting FEMA workers in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, which hit the area earlier this year. AEW’s Fight for the Fallen special of Dynamite will take place in Asheville on New Year’s Day, but while this would seem like an ideal opportunity for Copeland’s return, no timeline has been confirmed.
In addition to his wrestling and acting commitments, Copeland made a public appearance last week at the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions conference in Florida, promoting an amusement park game featuring “Rated R Superstar” championship belts. Sources described him as “looking good and moving around well,” fueling excitement for his eventual return to the ring.
For now, fans will have to wait a bit longer to see the Ultimate Opportunist back in action. Whether it’s on-screen chaos in AEW or mythological mayhem on Disney+, Copeland’s plate is certainly full.
