WWE star Carmella, aka “The Princess of Staten Island,” has been off our screens since March 2023, but her absence isn’t just due to her new role as a mom—it’s also because she’s battling an opponent tougher than any Money in the Bank ladder match: Drop Foot.

This condition, which can arise from herniated discs during childbirth, has sidelined the former Women’s Champion for months. According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, there’s still no set timetable for her return, despite speculation that she might pop up during the Royal Rumble or WrestleMania season.

Drop Foot Drama

Drop Foot, which makes lifting the front part of the foot challenging, is no easy hurdle to overcome—especially for someone whose career revolves around high heels and hurricanranas. Carmella has been candid about her journey, revealing that her 60+ hours of labor likely contributed to the condition. Imagine: 60 hours of labor, and your reward isn’t just a beautiful baby but also a wrestling hiatus caused by a literal pain in the back.

The Road Back

Despite the setback, Carmella remains optimistic about returning to the squared circle. She’s taking her time to recover fully, both physically and mentally, before gracing the WWE Universe again. “I was always told that she’d be welcomed back,” said Sapp, emphasizing that the door is wide open when she’s ready to make her comeback.

While there’s no rush on her part, fans are itching to see Carmella back in action—preferably strutting down the ramp with the sass and style only Staten Island can deliver. Until then, it’s patience, perseverance, and perhaps a few more bedazzled sneakers for physical therapy sessions.
