Sonya Deville is not holding back. After WWE unveiled its latest evolution in women’s wrestling with the introduction of the Women’s Intercontinental and United States Championships, Deville has found herself watching the action from the sidelines—and she’s not happy about it.
The former Women’s Tag Team Champion took to social media, releasing a fiery rant about her exclusion from the Women’s Intercontinental Championship tournament. Deville didn’t mince words:
“When that’s all I’ve been doing my entire career, actually my entire life, is fighting because I’m a fighter… I have literally overcome things, but I don’t sit here and brag about how I deserve things.”
Deville didn’t stop there, directly calling out Dakota Kai, who recently returned from injury and advanced to the semifinals:
“Now we’re applauding her so much because she’s come back from her fourth injury in four years… and that’s something to brag about now? That’s something that’s rewarded now?”
While the video cut off mid-rant, Deville hinted that her full thoughts might stir up some backstage controversy. Whether this frustration is purely directed at management or includes some shade toward her former Women’s Tag Team partner, Dakota Kai, is unclear—but Kai might want to keep an eye out for an ambush.
As of now, the Women’s Intercontinental Championship bracket is heating up, with Kai advancing to the semifinals. The Women’s United States Championship, meanwhile, will be decided next weekend at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Deville’s absence from both tournaments has undoubtedly struck a nerve, and fans are already speculating if her next move will be inside the ring—or behind someone’s back.
