In a plot twist that even wrestling fans didn’t see coming, Adam Copeland—yes, that Adam Copeland, formerly known as Edge, now flexing his chops in AEW—is breaking kayfabe and heading for the prestigious stage of the Children and Family Emmy Awards. Copeland, or as he’s known in his off-ring gig, “Ares, God of War” in Disney+’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians, has been nominated for Best Supporting Performer.

Forget trading blows with Christian Cage or getting mystical with the House of Black. This time, Copeland’s competition is a murderers’ row of talented thespians. Among them? Primetime Emmy winner Eric Stonestreet, Emmy nominee Elizabeth Mitchell, and co-star Lance Reddick (posthumously nominated, no less). It’s like facing The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels in the same WrestleMania—but with fewer steel chairs and more heartfelt monologues.

Emmy Bound, But Where’s the Ring?

While Copeland’s performance as Ares is earning him accolades, his absence from AEW has fans clutching their replica titles in frustration. Rumor has it that he’s been medically cleared to wrestle again after a tibia injury benched him in May, but the call of Hollywood is too strong. Season 2 of Percy Jackson is filming through January 2025, meaning his return to AEW may be as elusive as a surprise Royal Rumble entrant.

However, AEW enthusiasts can still hope for a holiday miracle: Dynamite’s January 1 show in Asheville, North Carolina—Copeland’s current stomping grounds—could feature a Rated-R cameo. Between a busy filming schedule and a shot at an Emmy, this guy’s doing more juggling than a circus act.

I like ice cream, taking a back seat, wondering who I am, and pretending kayfabe is real. May or may not be the Real Dark Brandon. For the LOLZ. MALARKEY!
