Fans of WWE’s short-lived ECW revival are in for a treat! On December 28, the WWE Vault YouTube channel will stream a rare gem: a “lost” house show from June 2006, held at the legendary 2300 Arena in Philadelphia. This event, a nod to ECW’s hardcore roots, marked the only house show the WWECW brand held at the venue. The stream kicks off at 8 PM EST.
The card was stacked with iconic names and matches. The main event saw Rob Van Dam battle Kurt Angle with Dean Malenko serving as special guest referee. Other highlights included Sabu vs. CW Anderson, Big Show facing Tommy Dreamer, and a clash between CM Punk and Stevie Richards. Fans were also treated to an “Extreme Bikini Contest” featuring Francine, Kelly Kelly, and Trinity. To top it off, ECW mastermind and current WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman addressed the crowd, adding a layer of authenticity to the evening.
WWE purchased ECW in 2003, reviving the brand with ECW One Night Stand in 2005. While initial efforts captured the spirit of the original, the WWECW iteration struggled to maintain its hardcore legacy, eventually becoming a third brand alongside Raw and SmackDown. The program aired on Syfy until February 2010.
This upcoming stream is a nostalgic look back at a unique chapter in WWE history, offering fans a chance to relive the extreme energy of ECW—complete with its original Philly vibes. So grab your steel chairs and kendo sticks, and tune in for a night of hardcore nostalgia!
