The stakes just got higher for The Young Bucks as their quest for the IWGP Tag Team Championships at AEW x NJPW Wrestle Dynasty turned into a triple-threat showdown. Originally set to face Great-O-Khan and a mystery partner for the vacant titles, the Jackson brothers now face an even bigger challenge: the newly formed duo of Tetsuya Naito and Hiromu Takahashi has entered the fray.

A Turbulent Path to the Titles

The IWGP Tag Team Championship picture was thrown into disarray after HENARE suffered an injury during the 2024 NJPW World Tag League, forcing United Empire to vacate the belts. Great-O-Khan, determined to keep gold in his faction, recruited Jeff Cobb as his partner for Wrestle Dynasty.

Adding to the chaos, Naito and Takahashi declared their intention to win gold following a hard-fought match against each other at Wrestle Kingdom 19. Despite Naito’s victory in that semi-main event, the two remained united, with their camaraderie driving them to join the hunt for the prestigious IWGP Tag Team titles.

History Repeats?

The Young Bucks, NJPW’s most decorated junior heavyweight tag team champions, are no strangers to the Tokyo Dome or three-way tag team chaos. Their last appearance in the Dome, back in 2019, also featured a triple-threat match for the IWGP Tag Team Championships, though they fell short against EVIL and SANADA.

This time, a victory would make history, as the Bucks aim to become the first team to capture nine different NJPW tag titles. Standing in their way, however, are two formidable teams: the power-and-precision pairing of Great-O-Khan and Jeff Cobb, and the unpredictable chemistry of Naito and Takahashi.

A Match for the Ages

Three teams, three styles, one Tokyo Dome—this triple-threat promises high stakes and high drama. Will The Young Bucks make history? Will United Empire reclaim their lost glory? Or will Naito and Takahashi shock the wrestling world by walking out with the gold? All eyes are on Wrestle Dynasty for the answers.
