In the cutthroat world of WWE, CM Punk has set his sights on one thing: victory at the Royal Rumble and a shiny ticket to main event either Night 1 or Night 2 of WrestleMania 41. But while Punk’s future is looking bright, his past got a little dusting off during a WWE Raw crowd interview with Jackie Redmond, where he took a jab at the Hulkster himself.

“Put Hulk Hogan in the Royal Rumble — I’ll throw his dusty a** over the top rope and kill HulkaMania once and for all,” Punk quipped, sending waves through the audience. Many fans, naturally, thought this might be a solo Punk idea — unsanctioned, unscripted, and possibly about to ruffle some backstage feathers. But according to Fightful Select, that’s not the case.

Reports indicate that while the line wasn’t written into the script, backstage reactions were all about chuckles and high-fives, not fiery confrontations. So, no heat on Punk, folks. Just a good ol’ backstage laugh. But now, let’s entertain the real question: Could this “dusty” line be setting up a showdown for the ages in the Royal Rumble?

Well, Bully Ray weighed in on Busted Open Radio, painting a picture of Punk tossing Hogan out of the Rumble, which would undoubtedly get that massive pop from the crowd. But he also added some much-needed reality: while the Hulkster might receive an entrance pop, the 71-year-old probably isn’t ready to rumble in a literal sense — so what’s the point, right?

At the end of the day, maybe Punk throwing out Hogan would only serve as a cheap pop — but is it really a “cheap pop” when it’s as glorious as this one would be?
