Fans of Alexa Bliss may have to wait a little longer to see her return to the squared circle, as the multi-time champion’s highly anticipated WWE comeback has reportedly been shelved. According to PWInsider Elite, Bliss’ planned return to WWE Raw on January 13 in San Jose was put on hold due to a “contract issue.”
Bliss Wants a New Deal, WWE Says Not So Fast
Reportedly, representatives for Bliss reached out to WWE executives with a simple request: renegotiate her contract before her official return. Bliss, a former WWE Raw Women’s Champion and one of the most marketable stars in the division, was reportedly seeking a “brand new” deal featuring better pay and perks.
However, WWE, known for its strict contract policies, wasn’t on board. The company opted to stick with Bliss’ current deal, which had been extended due to her two-year absence. With both parties at an impasse, WWE decided to hit pause on creative plans for Bliss’ return.
What Was the Plan for Bliss?
According to reports, Bliss’ return storyline was tied to the mysterious Wyatt Sicks stable, led by Uncle Howdy (aka Bo Dallas). This would’ve been a continuation of her arc from 2022 and early 2023, where she was seemingly under Howdy’s hypnotic spell.
The creative team reportedly planned for Bliss to re-join Raw as a prominent figure, adding layers to the Wyatt Sicks faction. However, with Bliss’ return now iced, WWE has reportedly moved the Wyatt Sicks storyline over to SmackDown, leaving its future uncertain.
A Long Time Away
Bliss hasn’t wrestled since the 2023 Royal Rumble, where she lost to then Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair. After that, she stepped away from WWE, eventually announcing her pregnancy and welcoming her first child in 2024.
Since then, Bliss has made it clear that she’s eager to return to WWE, but only under the right circumstances. Unfortunately, fans will have to wait a little longer to see her back in action.
Will WWE and Alexa Bliss resolve their differences, or will this standoff become another entry in wrestling’s ever-growing list of backstage drama? One thing’s for sure: Bliss’ eventual return—whenever it happens—will be must-see TV.
