The wrestling world just got a major shake-up as Mustafa Ali, former WWE star and once TNA X-Division Champion, officially signed with TNA Wrestling during this week’s live episode of Impact. Ali isn’t just here to compete—he’s here to lead. Yes, folks, Mustafa Ali is launching a campaign… for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. Forget political rallies—this is the campaign we can all get behind.

Ali’s Return: A Leadership Pitch with Gold in Mind

The surprise return began with Mike Santana cutting a promo about his own world title aspirations. But before the audience could process Santana’s ambitions, Ali’s music hit, sending the crowd into a frenzy. With the spotlight on him, Ali stepped into the ring and officially declared his allegiance to TNA Wrestling.

“TNA needs great leadership, and I am that great leader,” Ali proclaimed, sounding more like a presidential candidate than a wrestler. He added: “I want to give all of you something truly to believe in. So, ladies and gentlemen, I am launching a campaign, a campaign in which I become the next World Heavyweight Champion.”

That’s right. Ali isn’t just back—he’s on a mission to take over. Somebody call his marketing team because those campaign posters are going to sell out faster than front-row seats.

The Road to Redemption

Ali’s history with TNA has been a rollercoaster. His most notable moment came during a controversial reign as X-Division Champion, which ended in a high-stakes match against “Speedball” Mike Bailey at Slammiversary. That loss wasn’t without drama—referee Earl Hebner, clearly still salty about the Montreal Screwjob, refused to recreate the infamous moment, leaving Ali’s 148-day reign in the dust.

Now, with his eyes on the TNA World Heavyweight Championship, Ali is looking to rewrite the narrative and solidify his legacy. His last encounter with the TNA World Champion (at the time, Nic Nemeth) ended in defeat, but if Ali’s fiery promo is anything to go by, this time he’s gunning for victory—and redemption.

Other Highlights from Impact:

Ali’s return wasn’t the only shocker of the night:

  • Joe Hendry vs. Matt Cardona: The newly-crowned TNA World Champion Joe Hendry successfully defended his title against a returning Matt Cardona, though the match turned chaotic thanks to a surprise appearance from John Bradshaw Layfield. (Because why not?)

Ali’s campaign isn’t just for a title—it’s for control of the company’s direction. If anyone can make TNA fans chant “Yes We Can,” it’s him.
