AEW Collision will not be throwing hands with WrestleMania Night 1 this year—and not because of diplomacy or mutual respect. No, folks, the reason is much more noble: TNT needs the slot for hockey and hoops.
Per PWInsider, the April 17 Collision taping, which was originally set to air on April 19 (a.k.a. Night One of WrestleMania 41), has been moved to Thursday, April 17, airing live instead of butting heads with WWE’s Super Bowl. The new venue? The MGM Music Hall next to Fenway Park in Boston—where you can catch suplexes and Sox caps in the same zip code.
🍹 Welcome to Spring BreakThru
This Thursday edition of Collision now becomes Night 2 of AEW’s Spring BreakThru special, with Dynamite kicking things off on April 16. And that night’s a biggie—because Dynamite will officially outlast WCW Monday Nitro as the longest-running wrestling show ever on a Turner network.
Somewhere, Eric Bischoff is probably shaking his head… and secretly texting Tony Khan a congratulations gif.
📺 Why the Move? Spoiler: It’s Not Just WrestleMania
While avoiding the WrestleMania buzzsaw is a happy side effect, the real reason for Collision’s shuffle is TNT’s need to air potential NHL and NBA playoff games during that weekend. Because apparently even a Boston crowd can’t yell “This is awesome!” louder than TNT yells “ratings.”
Let’s face it—when playoff hockey and post-season basketball come calling, even Powerhouse Hobbs takes a backseat.
📉 Schedule Shuffle: 2025 Edition
Collision has been moved around more than a folding table at a hardcore match this year, but here’s the twist: the ratings haven’t tanked. Thanks to big lead-ins and strategic planning, both AEW and Warner Bros. Discovery are committed to making Collision work, even if it means bouncing around the calendar like a Darby Allin dive.
And with TNT’s summer schedule packed with sports galore, both sides are plotting how to ride that wave straight into your living room—with or without basketballs flying past Jon Moxley’s entrance.
