Folks, AEW is taking over Australia, and let me tell you, it’s going to be YUGE! Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite gave us some blockbuster additions to the already jam-packed Grand Slam: Australia card. And believe me, folks, this thing is looking tremendous!

Brisbane Brawl: No Rules, No Mercy!

Jon Moxley, the man who stores his AEW World Championship in a briefcase like he’s about to make a shady business deal, is set for war! He and his Death Riders partner, Claudio Castagnoli, have been challenged by Australia’s own Jay White and his partner Cope (you know who he is, but let’s pretend we don’t). The show opened with a wild backstage brawl that spilled into the ring, because AEW contracts apparently don’t include “personal space” clauses.

The fan-favorites cleared the ring, sending Moxley and his goons running like they just saw an Australian spider (which, to be fair, is a reasonable reaction). Then, in a move more desperate than an indie wrestler’s GoFundMe, Cope begged for a title match at AEW Revolution in March. Moxley, being the generous and humble man that he is (pause for laughter), flat-out refused. Enter Jay White, who took matters into his own hands and issued the challenge for this chaotic tag match.

Okada vs. Buddy Matthews: A Continental Showdown!

AEW Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada—the man who prints money and rains it from the sky—will defend his title against Buddy Matthews, a man who probably had to take a 27-hour flight just to get booked in his own country. Matthews made his challenge on AEW Collision, and in a backstage segment on Dynamite, Okada did what all great champions do: he shrugged and said “fine.” Classic.

The Already Announced Madness

This beautiful disaster of an event already includes:

  • Kenny Omega & Will Ospreay vs. Kyle Fletcher & Konosuke Takeshita – Because when two people who hate each other team up, it always goes smoothly, right?
  • Mariah May (c) vs. “Timeless” Toni Storm – AEW Women’s World Championship – A battle between two former allies, one of whom thinks she’s still living in the 1950s.

Final Thoughts:
AEW Grand Slam: Australia is shaping up to be absolutely massive. Will Moxley survive the Brisbane Brawl? Will Okada actually break a sweat? Will Toni Storm demand the match be in black-and-white? We’ll find out soon, folks!

What match are you most excited for? Let me know in the comments, unless you’re wrong!
