Folks, the injury bug has been relentless, and two of AEW’s most recognizable stars—Skye Blue and Killswitch (FKA Luchasaurus)—are still waiting for their chance to return to action. But if you’ve been hearing whispers that they’re cleared and ready to go, hold onto your wrestling boots—because the truth is a little more complicated.

According to Fightful Select, both Blue and Killswitch are “close” to being cleared, but there’s a catch: medical clearance comes in two rounds. First, their doctors have to give the thumbs-up, and then AEW has to clear them separately—which, if we’re being honest, is wrestling’s version of going through TSA twice.

Skye Blue: Ready to Fly, But No Flight Scheduled

Blue has been out for six months after breaking her ankle, but she’s been itching to get back in the ring. She even traveled to Australia to support her boyfriend, Kyle Fletcher, at AEW Grand Slam: Australia, proving she’s well enough to fly across the world but not quite ready to hit the ropes. That said, AEW reportedly wasn’t planning for her return until spring, and as of now, they have no creative plans for her.

That’s right—she’s about to get cleared, but creative still has her on the bench. So, unless she pulls a surprise return, we might have to wait a little longer to see Blue back in action.

Killswitch: The Situation is… Complicated

For Austin Matelson (Killswitch, fka Luchasaurus), the situation is a bit more serious. He’s been out since September after an undisclosed health complication led to severe pneumonia, and reports from October already hinted that his in-ring future wasn’t looking great. Even if he gets cleared, a relapse is a major concern—which means AEW is in no rush to book him in a Jurassic Express reunion just yet.

As of now, no creative plans exist for Killswitch, and his return remains to be determined. AEW seems to be prioritizing his long-term health over a quick comeback, which—given the circumstances—is probably the right call.

What’s Next?

For now, Skye Blue is closer to a return than Killswitch, but neither are guaranteed to be back in the ring anytime soon. AEW might be waiting for the right storyline to bring Blue back, while Killswitch’s future hinges on his recovery timeline.

Moral of the story? Sometimes, even in wrestling, you can’t rush a comeback—no matter how badly the fans (or the wrestlers) want it.
