It’s that time again, folks! AEW Revolution is back, bringing chaos, championship gold, and at least one scenario where a human being may or may not be set on fire. Tony Khan has declared this one of AEW’s “big four” pay-per-views, which is great news, because everyone was getting worried the company had started counting on a base-12 system.
Live from the Crypto.com Arena (because nothing screams “pro wrestling” like cryptocurrency), this event is stacked with high-stakes matches, intense rivalries, and at least one person fighting for the fate of their fancy robe.
Main Event Madness: Moxley vs. Cope
Jon Moxley will defend the AEW World Championship against Cope, who has made it his life’s mission to whittle down Moxley’s Death Riders faction like a meticulous woodworker. After systematically dismantling Moxley’s support system, Cope now gets his shot at the gold. The real question is: Can Moxley bleed before the match even begins, or will he wait until the opening bell?
Hollywood Ending: Toni Storm vs. Mariah May
In a match that sounds more like the climax of a dramatic soap opera than a wrestling bout, Toni Storm defends her AEW Women’s World Championship against Mariah May in a Falls Count Anywhere match. Storm calls this stipulation a “Hollywood Ending,” which, given her recent character direction, may involve black-and-white cinematography, old-timey music, and someone dramatically fainting onto a couch.
Mercedes Mone vs. Momo Watanabe
After Momo Watanabe won the Women’s International Cup at Wrestle Dynasty, she set her sights on Mercedes Mone and the TBS Championship. Mone, who has been stacking her bank account with championship belts, now has to deal with the aggressive Watanabe, whose strategy seems to be “hit people very hard until they stop moving.“
Hurt Syndicate vs. The Outrunners – AEW Tag Team Championships
The Hurt Syndicate defends the AEW World Tag Team Titles against The Outrunners, a team that looks like they just teleported from an ’80s fitness VHS. Will experience and dominance win out, or will it be the power of neon-colored spandex?
Kazuchika Okada vs. Brody King – AEW Continental Championship
Okada is defending his newly won AEW Continental Championship against Brody King, a man who looks like he eats Okada’s body weight in raw meat every morning. If Okada isn’t careful, he might end up being the first wrestler to experience “Rainmaker” becoming literal when he gets chopped so hard he starts crying.
Konosuke Takeshita vs. Kenny Omega – AEW International Championship
After defeating Orange Cassidy last week, Takeshita now has to deal with Kenny Omega, who challenged him at Grand Slam. Given Omega’s history of mind-blowing matches, this one is likely to include at least one move that defies physics, one moment where Don Callis looks like he’s smelled something awful, and a finisher that causes an existential crisis.
Swerve Strickland vs. Ricochet – No. 1 Contender’s Match
In what started as a wrestling match and escalated into a battle over a stolen robe, Ricochet and Swerve Strickland will now fight for a shot at the AEW World Championship. Prince Nana, owner of said robe, has given Strickland an ultimatum: “Get it back, or we’re breaking up.” This means Swerve is essentially fighting for custody of a piece of fabric, which is somehow still a better storyline than most Hollywood movies.
Kyle Fletcher vs. Will Ospreay – Steel Cage Match
Friendships in AEW never end well. Kyle Fletcher turned on Will Ospreay at WrestleDream with a screwdriver attack, leading to months of bad blood. Ospreay, not one to let betrayal go unpunished, demanded a steel cage match, because when someone tries to stab you in the face, naturally, the solution is to fight them in a giant metal box.
MJF vs. Hangman Page – “The Legal System Is Watching” Match
Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) and “Hangman” Adam Page have spent the last few weeks engaged in a verbal war, physical brawls, and one disturbingly real attempt at arson. If the actual match is even half as violent as the build-up, Los Angeles might need to call in FEMA for post-match cleanup.
Zero Hour: The Costco Guys Return!
On the free Zero Hour pre-show, Orange Cassidy and Mark Briscoe will team up with returning AEW cult favorites The Costco Guys’ Big Boom AJ to take on Johnny TV and MxM Collection. This match is expected to feature as much chaos as a Black Friday sale at an actual Costco.
Final Thoughts
AEW Revolution 2025 is shaping up to be a night filled with blood, drama, championship dreams, and an unhealthy amount of personal vendettas. If all goes according to plan, only one person will be set on fire, and we’ll all go home with our legal records intact.
