Folks, it’s that time again—contract season. And while AEW might be known for its deep roster, even Tony Khan’s bank account has limits (allegedly).
After recent departures like Ricky Starks (now WWE NXT’s Ricky Saints), Malakai Black, Miro, and Rey Fenix (who may or may not still be employed—his status is murkier than a Bray Wyatt promo), three more stars are reportedly on the chopping block.
According to this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Abadon, Zak Knight, and Nick Comoroto will not have their contracts renewed. That means more goodbyes are on the horizon.
The Departing Names: Who’s Out?
🧟 Abadon – The Undead Runs Out of Time
- AEW’s “Living Dead Girl” first appeared on AEW Dark in March 2020.
- Signed in June 2020, they freaked out audiences and bit their way into title matches.
- Challenged for the AEW TBS, AEW Women’s World, ROH Women’s World TV, and ROH Women’s World Championships—but never captured gold.
- Last seen wrestling for ROH, meaning their AEW days were already numbered.
💪 Nick Comoroto – From The Factory to Free Agency
- Once part of Q.T. Marshall’s Nightmare Factory, Comoroto looked like a Vince McMahon fever dream but never found solid footing in AEW.
- Suffered a hip resurfacing surgery in August 2024, keeping him out of action.
- His last match? A loss to Lee Johnson on ROH TV (not exactly a grand exit).
- Contract expiration date unknown, but with surgery recovery ongoing, AEW isn’t waiting around.
🇬🇧 Zak Knight – Saraya’s Brother, Brief AEW Run
- Brother of former AEW Women’s World Champion Saraya (formerly Paige).
- Made several appearances supporting his sister before transitioning to occasional AEW/ROH matches in late 2023.
- Final match? A dark match on June 5, 2024, taping of Dynamite.
- Contract expired this month.
What’s Next?
AEW has made some tough cuts recently, but these three names are just the latest victims of the company’s evolving roster strategy.
- Abadon? Could land in Impact or the indies. Their gimmick is too unique to disappear completely.
- Comoroto? With his size and look, WWE might be interested post-recovery (or he could join the never-ending NWA reboot).
- Zak Knight? May just stick to the UK scene.
Either way, the AEW roster shuffle continues—and more surprises could be coming.
