On this week’s WWE Raw, Bayley took one step closer to WrestleMania glory, overcoming Lyra Valkyria in a match that had more twists and turns than a WWE contract negotiation. With Charlotte Flair securing her title shot via Royal Rumble, the upcoming Elimination Chamber match on March 1 will determine who gets the other golden ticket to the grandest stage of them all.
Valkyria, who currently holds the Women’s Intercontinental Championship (yes, that exists now), put up a strong fight, but Bayley proved why she’s been hanging around the top of the division longer than WWE’s obsession with reboots.
A Match With More Near-Falls Than a Referee Conspiracy Theory
The bout saw both competitors pushing each other to the limit. Bayley nearly sealed the deal with a Bayley-to-Belly, but Valkyria wasn’t ready to clock out just yet. The Intercontinental Champion hit a Tornado DDT that had Bayley reconsidering her career choices, followed by back-to-back suplexes inside and outside the ring.
But just when it looked like Valkyria was about to secure the win, Bayley pulled off the classic veteran maneuver—turning a roll-up into a surprise three-count. Somewhere, Bret Hart shed a single tear of approval.
Momentum, Momentum, Momentum!
With the win, Bayley joins Liv Morgan, Bianca Belair, and Alexa Bliss inside the Elimination Chamber, where six women will compete for a WrestleMania championship opportunity in a match best described as “Steel Cage Meets Carnival of Pain.”
Bayley also has her eyes on another prize, as she heads into NXT Vengeance Day to challenge for the NXT Women’s Championship in a triple threat match against Giulia and Roxanne Perez. Speaking of Roxanne—she was conveniently at ringside for this match, scouting Bayley like a coach trying to steal plays before the Super Bowl.
With the Elimination Chamber around the corner and Bayley now one step closer to WrestleMania, one thing is clear: The Role Model isn’t done making history.
