Wrestling fans, get ready for a showdown between two men who left WWE and immediately decided that first names were optional. That’s right—Baron Corbin (now going by Bishop Dyer) and Dijak (who at least kept part of his name) are set to clash on the independent scene, because let’s be honest, WWE probably wasn’t calling them back.
Their upcoming battle is set for April 6 at Destiny World Wrestling’s Icons IV event in Canada, where Dijak, the current DWW Champion, has declared that Dyer is his next challenger. Because when you leave WWE, the first thing you do is hit the indies, cut a gritty promo, and remind everyone how “free” you feel now.
A Rivalry That Barely Happened (But Now It Will!)
For those keeping score, these two have only crossed paths once—in a triple threat match on WWE NXT in October 2023, where neither of them won (Carmelo Hayes did, because of course he did). But now, it’s a one-on-one battle, where both men will try to prove that they are the bigger post-WWE success story.
Dijak: The Indie Workhorse
Since leaving WWE, Dijak has been a wrestling machine, competing everywhere—RevPro in the UK, OTT in Ireland, and countless indie promotions in the U.S. The man is proving that just because WWE didn’t see him as a top guy doesn’t mean he isn’t one.
Dyer: One Match, One Loss, One Big Opportunity
Meanwhile, Bishop Dyer (formerly Baron Corbin, for those struggling to keep up with name changes) has only wrestled one match since leaving WWE—a Bloodsport loss to Josh Barnett at GCW’s The People vs. GCW event. But hey, it was a respectable loss! And now he’s ready to do more, probably because retirement didn’t sound as fun as punching people in the face for money.
Who Wins?
Will Dijak continue his reign of indie dominance, or will Dyer prove that he’s more than just “that guy who used to feud with Roman Reigns while wearing a vest”? Find out at Icons IV on April 6!
One thing’s for sure—someone’s indie stock is about to skyrocket. And someone’s is about to take a Corbin-sized hit.
