The cannoli may still be warm, but the rumor mill’s piping hotter—Tony D’Angelo, NXT’s resident mob boss and paisano of piledrivers, is reportedly this close to making a move to the WWE main roster.
According to Cory Hays of Bodyslam, Tony D’s name has been “thrown around” backstage in discussions about post-WrestleMania call-ups—because nothing says “new season” like introducing your coworkers to organized wrestling crime.
Tony, a two-time NXT Tag Team Champion and former North American Champion, has been running the black-and-gold back alleys since 2021, slicing through opponents like Sunday gravy over rigatoni. But with WrestleMania 41 in the rear-view, it looks like the don is ready to make Raw or SmackDown his new turf. Fuhgeddaboudit.
The big question is: will the whole D’Angelo Family come with him? Things got messy at Stand & Deliver, where his supposed underboss Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo turned on him like a rat at a Rico trial, helping the spooky suit squad DarkState steal the win. Ouch. Betrayal in the family? Tony might need a new consigliere—applications open.
Tony’s still got Adriana Rizzo in his corner (seen in a recent NXT vignette), but whether she’s joining the move or staying behind to keep an eye on NXT’s backroom deals is still unknown. Expect plot twists thicker than a Bronx accent.
Meanwhile, WWE is clearly dusting off the NXT-to-Main Roster conveyor belt:
-
Stephanie Vaquer (NXT Women’s Champ) faced off with Iyo Sky on Raw.
-
Guilia and Roxanne Perez stormed the ring faster than a food fight at Thanksgiving, laying everyone out.
Translation: the pipeline is active, and Tony D might be the next to walk through the curtain—and into a WWE Universe that’s not ready for “The Don.”
