In a move shocking to exactly no one with a functioning attention span or a basic understanding of WWE creative (a low bar, folks), Women’s United States Champion Chelsea Green has been left off the WrestleMania 41 card. That’s right — WWE’s resident “Hot Mess” won’t be defending her title, won’t be hosting, and unless something changes, might not even get to yell at someone in catering. Sad!
Sources from Fightful Select — who seem to be the only people still returning WWE creative’s calls — say Chelsea wasn’t scheduled for anything WrestleMania-related as of last week. Despite Green’s devoted fanbase, her pitch to host WrestleMania was reportedly met with a response best described as, “We’ll circle back,” which in wrestling speak means “Go film a TikTok.”
Even though there’s technically still time to shoehorn her into a skit (possibly involving R-Truth, invisible champagne, or someone falling into a kiddie pool), this is the third time creative’s been asked, and the answer continues to be “maybe… but no.”
Let’s review the resume real quick:
-
Recently lost to Zelina Vega via count-out, which we assume was part of a long-term storytelling plan known as “we forgot.”
-
Last title defense? A blink-and-you-missed-it showdown on NXT in March against Sol Ruca, who probably had to Google what championship she was challenging for.
And she’s not alone on the snub list. The Women’s Intercontinental Championship is also on creative’s milk carton — though Lyra Valkyria gets to pretend to matter by teaming with Bayley in a tag title match. The Street Profits? They’re defending the tag titles on SmackDown — also known as “WrestleMania’s pregame leftovers.”
So to recap:
-
Green’s title is collecting dust
-
She’s not hosting
-
She’s not wrestling
-
But hey, maybe they’ll let her yell “Welcome to WrestleMania” from the parking lot. Fingers crossed.
