Cody Rhodes has officially stopped being polite and started getting real—and by real, we mean he finally name-dropped The Rock during Monday Night Raw in London, hit John Cena with a Cross Rhodes, and pointed to the WrestleMania sign so hard it probably filed a restraining order.
It was the third straight week of Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes vs. Human Inspirational Poster John Cena, and this time the tension popped louder than the crowd’s tea kettles. Cena opened the show ready to talk, but before he could even say “loyalty,” Cody walked out like an annoyed assistant manager and told him, essentially, we’ve heard enough, John.
Then came the insults—and folks, these weren’t just jabs. These were verbal steel chairs.
Rhodes mocked Cena’s greatest hits, wondering if Cena would roast him over his lisp, his neck tattoo, or perhaps his very existence. But Cena, clearly caffeinated and carrying heat, fired back with what may go down as one of the pettiest promos of all time. His greatest hits included:
-
Calling Cody a “sociopathic nepo baby”, which is bold coming from a guy who’s basically the Fast & Furious version of Hulk Hogan.
-
Telling him he’s an “errand boy who got lucky,” which would sting harder if Cody hadn’t carried AEW, the Nightmare Factory, and that back tattoo for years.
-
And claiming, “I make empires for billionaires. All you do is steal money from their kids.” Which is a weird flex from someone who’s made three movies with CGI animals.
But Cody’s most savage moment came when he finally pulled the Rock card. With Cena skirting around his cozy recent alignment with Dwayne “$7 Bucks” Johnson, Cody asked the question we’ve all been thinking:
“Who really sold out to The Rock?”
Cena, in classic deflection mode, tried to Irish exit after that—but not before saying, “I’ll see you at WrestleMania,” like a dad leaving the grocery store after an argument with the cashier.
But Cody wasn’t done. He pointed out that the crowd has never chanted “you can’t wrestle” at him—translation: I’m not The Miz—and then, BOOM, hit Cena with a Cross Rhodes so clean it could’ve main-evented a soap commercial.
He then pointed to the WrestleMania sign, completing the sacred wrestling ritual that ensures this match is now 300% official.
So to recap:
-
Cody spoke The Rock’s name.
-
Cena said “sociopathic nepo baby” with his whole chest.
-
A finisher was hit.
-
And the WrestleMania sign felt seen.
We are so back.
