Just when Vince McMahon thought he might be out of the woods, the legal system has decided to pull him right back in.

While McMahon previously suggested that the federal investigation into him had ended, a new court ruling strongly indicates otherwise. The 2nd U.S. Court of Appeals in New York ruled that a former McMahon attorney was WRONG to withhold over 200 documents from a grand jury investigation.

And if that wasn’t bad enough? The court ruled that attorney-client privilege didn’t apply because of an exception for ‘crime or fraud.’ Translation: they suspect some shady business.

What’s Going On?

  • Federal prosecutors believe McMahon and his attorney may have tried to “illegally circumvent” WWE’s internal controls, create false records, and mislead company auditors regarding settlement agreements.
  • This directly contradicts McMahon’s earlier claim that the investigation was over, which now seems about as reliable as a “This Is My Retirement” speech in wrestling.
  • While no formal updates were provided on the investigation’s status, the ruling made it clear that proceedings are still before a grand jury.

What’s Next for McMahon?

With Janel Grant’s lawsuit still active and federal prosecutors clearly still digging, it looks like McMahon’s legal troubles are far from over.

Neither McMahon’s lawyers nor the U.S. Attorney’s office in Manhattan offered a comment, but this latest ruling suggests that the walls may be closing in.
