Folks, Dakota Kai just won herself another shot at the Women’s Intercontinental Championship—which is great news for her ambition but maybe not so great for her win-loss record against Lyra Valkyria.
On Monday Night Raw, Kai defeated Ivy Nile in a hard-hitting No. 1 Contender’s Match, finally earning a rematch against Valkyria, the woman who denied her glory twice before—first in the Queen of the Ring tournament and then in the IC Title Tournament Final. That’s right, folks: if at first you don’t succeed, just keep challenging until WWE eventually books you into a title match.
The match itself was a battle of wills, with Nile trying to twist Kai’s ankle like a pretzel and Kai trying to kick Nile’s head into the third row. After some back-and-forth action that saw German suplexes, ankle locks, and just about every kind of leg attack possible, Kai finally hit the GTK for the win.
Valkyria, watching at ringside like a proud but unimpressed boss, immediately stood up, raised the IC Title, and locked eyes with her next challenger. It was intense. It was dramatic. It was also a reminder that Kai is 0-2 against Valkyria and needs to figure out a new game plan FAST.
So, will the third time be the charm? Or will Kai once again leave the ring muttering, “Well, at least I tried”? We’ll find out soon. Until then, Lyra Valkyria remains the queen of her castle, and Dakota Kai is knocking on the door… again.
