The Dynasty pay-per-view is this Sunday and AEW just dropped a lineup so solid, it should come with its own steel cage. On Dynamite, fans got a double-dose of tournament tension and a spicy side of tag team drama.
Let’s start with the Owen Hart Cup, aka AEW’s annual bracket of pain, pride, and powerbombs. The first two first-round matches were officially confirmed, kicking off both the men’s and women’s tournaments at Dynasty:
🏆 Owen Hart Cup Kickoff Matches at Dynasty
👑 Mercedes Moné vs. Julia Hart
This is a clash of luxury vs. lunacy — with Moné bringing the CEO energy and Hart summoning whatever spirits live in AEW’s fog machines. The TBS Champ is undefeated since arrival, but Julia Hart might just have some witchy tricks up her (black velvet) sleeves.
🛫 Will Ospreay vs. Kevin Knight
It’s Speed vs. Sparkle Boots as Ospreay looks to prove why he’s a tournament favorite while Kevin Knight tries to avoid becoming a cautionary tale. Ospreay’s already teased gold in Texas — Knight just wants to make it to Collision without being turned inside out.
Winners move forward toward the Double or Nothing finals on May 25, with a World Title shot at All In: Texas on the line. That’s not just opportunity — that’s oil money prestige.
🏷️ Tag Team Tension: Hurt Syndicate vs. Learning Tree
Meanwhile, in a development that no one saw coming but everyone now wants to see, The Learning Tree — Big Bill and “Bad Apple” Brian Keith — are getting a shot at the AEW World Tag Team Championships this Sunday.
How did this happen?
Let’s walk it back:
-
The duo absolutely steamrolled some poor local enhancement team that may still be finding their kneecaps.
-
MVP was ringside, presumably scouting and sipping on that manager juice.
-
Big Bill grabbed a mic and said, essentially: “We want your belts.”
-
MVP opened his mouth to respond — but Bobby Lashley cut him off with the verbal version of a contract signature: “Don’t worry about them.”
-
Translation: “Accepted.”
Shortly after, AEW flashed a graphic mid-main event confirming the match. The Hurt Syndicate will defend their titles against a team that has less experience but significantly more chaos in their promo delivery.
Shelton Benjamin wasn’t at the show due to travel issues, but he’ll presumably return just in time to re-glare at everyone.
TL;DR – Dynasty Just Got Dangerous:
🔥 Moné vs. Hart – TBS Champ kicks off the Women’s Owen
🔥 Ospreay vs. Knight – High-flyer showdown opens the Men’s Owen
🔥 The Hurt Syndicate vs. The Learning Tree – Tag gold gets defended, but egos may explode first
