It’s a tale as old as time—one day, you’re managing a top faction, and the next, you’re aggressively refreshing your emails hoping Tony Khan slides into your DMs. Elektra Lopez, former Legado Del Fantasma member, has confirmed her WWE release, officially adding her name to the latest edition of “Spring Cleaning: WWE Edition.”
Lopez took to social media to announce her departure, stating:
“Heard any good news lately? No? Well, make it quick—I’ve got a packed schedule for the next 90 days ⏳.”
Yes, folks, she’s got a busy calendar—filled with watching replays of her matches, answering the same three interview questions on wrestling podcasts, and possibly brainstorming a new ring name that won’t get hit with a cease and desist.
From NXT Star to a 90-Day Countdown Enthusiast
Lopez first stepped onto WWE television back in 2018, where she faced Lacey Evans on NXT. Fast forward to 2021, she officially joined the company and became a key part of Legado Del Fantasma. But in true WWE fashion, she was replaced by Zelina Vega when the group moved to the main roster—because, you know, why keep original members when you can just swap them out like a bad soap opera recast?
However, she did return to the faction in January 2024, only to be used sparingly and wrestle just a handful of times. Her last WWE match was in December, where she competed in a triple threat qualifying match for the Women’s U.S. Championship.
WWE’s Latest Game of Musical Chairs
WWE’s latest wave of releases has sent multiple stars packing, including Blair Davenport, Sonya Deville, and even long-time veterans like Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows—who will likely reunite in Japan for the 47th Bullet Club revival. Reports suggest that WWE made these cuts to make room for fresh NXT call-ups, with Roxanne Perez being rumored as a potential promotion.
In the meantime, Lopez joins the long line of recently released talent who will now spend 90 days doing everything except wrestling anywhere that matters. Will she head to AEW? Impact? Mexico? Or will she take the time to reflect, relax, and make a dramatic return with an entirely new gimmick?
Stay tuned, because if history tells us anything, this won’t be the last WWE release story we hear in 2024.
