It’s official: Sonya Deville, once the sharp-suited striker of WWE, is leaving the squared circle (for now) and heading to the hexagon—but not to throw hands. No, this time she’s armed with a microphone and an opinion that hits harder than a spinning elbow.
Now going by her real name Daria Berenato, the former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion is set to join Invicta FC 62 on May 16 in beautiful, dangerous Kansas City. And she won’t just be cage-side—she’s stepping behind the commentary desk, offering professional insight and probably at least one “I could’ve taken her” moment.
The Setup:
Fresh off her appearance at Invicta FC 61 (where she expertly watched people get kicked in the ribs), Deville is now officially part of the show. In a promotional video posted by TNA Wrestling—because yes, TNA is now apparently moonlighting as ESPN for women’s MMA—Deville invited fans to “come say hi” and “watch these badass women kick some ass.” Poetry.
The Fight Card Includes:
-
Katharina Lehner vs. Olga Rubin (bantamweight, aka punch-and-clutch division)
-
DeAnna Bennett vs. Rayla Nascimento (flyweight, aka relentless cardio division)
-
Ashley Yoder vs. Abril Anguiano (strawweight, aka deceptively violent division)
And yes, Daria will probably say something like “she’s got grit” at least five times. Because that’s tradition.
The Corporate Web of Combat:
If you’re wondering how WWE’s most qualified MMA alum ended up doing commentary for a Kansas City cage-fighting promotion on a Thursday night, here’s your answer: Anthem Sports & Entertainment owns both TNA Wrestling and Invicta FC. Meaning: cross-promotion season is upon us, and nobody is safe from a commentary spot.
The WWE Exit:
Deville quietly parted ways with WWE earlier this year after a near-decade run that included tag titles, managerial stints, and many, many blazers. Since then, she’s been training, staying ripped, and waiting patiently like a character in a “Fast & Furious” spinoff for the right moment to re-emerge.
So is this a one-off? Or is Daria Berenato about to become MMA’s version of Joe Rogan—with better hair and less screaming?
Stay tuned. And bring snacks. The Lex in Kansas City is about to echo with roundhouse kicks and hot takes.
