WWE’s commentary teams are already stacked, but that didn’t stop the company from scouting new talent in late 2024. According to Fightful Select, independent broadcaster Sam Leterna got a WWE tryout, though there’s no word yet on whether she’ll be joining the company.

WHO IS SAM LETERNA?

Leterna has been calling matches on the independent scene for four years, working with:
🎤 West Coast Pro Wrestling
🎤 House of Glory
🎤 MLW, NWA, and TNA
🎤 Scott D’Amore’s Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling

She’s built a solid reputation, and internally, WWE officials were reportedly impressed.

WHAT WOULD WWE EVEN USE HER FOR?

Let’s be honest—WWE’s broadcast teams are pretty much set.

🔹 Raw: Michael Cole & Pat McAfee
🔹 SmackDown: Joe Tessitore & Wade Barrett
🔹 NXT: Vic Joseph, Booker T & Corey Graves (when he’s not in controversy mode)

With commentary spots locked up, it’s likely Leterna was being considered for an interviewer or ring announcer role. But even that would be a tight fit—WWE already has:

🎤 Ring Announcers: Alicia Taylor, Lillian Garcia, Mike Rome
🎤 Interviewers: Byron Saxton, Cathy Kelley, Jackie Redmond, Blake Howard, Kelly Kincaid, Sarah Schreiber

WILL WWE SIGN HER?

Even though there’s no official deal, WWE trying out an indie broadcaster with Leterna’s experience is interesting. They’re clearly keeping an eye on fresh talent in case openings come up in the future.

And even if she doesn’t land in WWE, Leterna is still thriving—most recently working Limitless Wrestling’s Warpath event in Maine on February 22.

Moral of the story? WWE may not have room for her now, but in wrestling, doors open when you least expect it.
