The legal battle between Janel Grant and Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE just got even spicier, as Grant’s legal team filed their latest argument in the District Court of Connecticut regarding whether her amended complaint should be accepted. Spoiler alert: The defendants are not happy about it.

What’s in the Amended Complaint?

Filed on January 31, the amended complaint includes new details and allegations surrounding Grant’s claims of trafficking and assault at the hands of McMahon and Laurinaitis. Notably, it also formally identifies Brock Lesnar in connection with McMahon’s alleged solicitation of Grant, adding another major name to the already high-profile case.

Defendants: “Whoa, Whoa, Whoa—Not So Fast”

Since the filing, McMahon, Laurinaitis, and WWE have pushed back hard, objecting to the new complaint on multiple fronts, including:
🛑 Alleging that Grant is adding new claims not originally disclosed.
🛑 Accusing Grant of manipulating the court docket system to generate media coverage, which they argue is unfairly harming McMahon’s already, let’s say, complicated reputation.
🛑 Calling for certain elements—such as the SEC investigation and references to Dr. Carlon Colker—to be stricken from the record, arguing they are irrelevant to the case at hand.

Grant’s Legal Team Fires Back

On Monday, Grant’s attorneys responded, stating that the amendments are necessary to provide more specific details about the abuse she alleges, as well as to update the court on material developments that happened while the case was on pause.

Attorney Ann Callis pulled no punches, writing:
📢 “Defendants are not entitled to take a red pencil to the complaint and suppress damaging facts.”
📢 “Defendants’ gripes and grievances are not legally cognizable objections that should prevent the Court from the benefit of an Amended Complaint that clarifies key issues and brings the facts up to date.”

In other words, Grant’s side argues that the updates are completely justified under federal law, and McMahon & Co. don’t get to just erase allegations they don’t like.

What’s Next?

The court will now decide whether to accept or reject the amended complaint, which could have huge implications for the case. If accepted, it could significantly expand the scope of the lawsuit, making things even worse for McMahon, Laurinaitis, and WWE. If rejected, Grant’s case may have to move forward based solely on the original filing.

One thing is for sure—this legal battle is far from over, and with more high-profile names now in the mix, expect even more twists, turns, and eyebrow-raising revelations in the coming weeks.
