“Switchblade” Jay White has officially joined the 2025 Owen Hart Foundation Cup, becoming the latest man to toss his metaphorical leather jacket into the ring during this week’s AEW Dynamite.

Interviewed by Renee Paquette—AEW’s go-to voice of reason in a sea of people cutting promos like they’ve been drinking Monster at 2 a.m.—White reflected on last year’s tournament. Spoiler: it was not a highlight reel. He lost in the semi-finals to Hangman Page, spent three months on the injury shelf, and presumably had to watch Will Ospreay be amazing while doing nothing but neck rehab and passive-aggressive tweeting.

But this year? This year’s different. This year, he’s not just entering the Owen—he’s promising to win it, take the World Title shot at All In: Texas, and slice through anyone who stands in his way like they owe him Bullet Club royalties.

“It doesn’t matter if it’s Ospreay, Page, or the ghost of Ricky Starks’ 2023 run,” White snarled, probably, “I’m taking the Cup—and the shot.”

And just in case someone thought his entry was open for debate, White dared anyone to challenge his spot this Saturday on AEW Collision. Which means we could be in for a weekend of Switchblade Violence™, as White fends off every guy in catering with a dream and a decent dropkick.

The Owen Hart Cup, now entering its fourth year, has become AEW’s version of the golden ticket—except instead of chocolate, you get a World Title shot and a reason to aggressively stare into the camera. Last year, Bryan Danielson beat Page in the final and went on to dethrone Swerve Strickland at All In, proving that yes, this tournament actually matters.

Still no official date for the tournament’s start, but with Jon Moxley vs. Swerve set for Dynasty, it’s clear AEW’s roadmap to All In is paved with stiff elbows, high stakes, and more than a few beautifully delivered threats.

So far, the 2025 Owen Cup line-up includes:

  • Jay White (determined)

  • Will Ospreay (unhinged in the best way)

  • Hangman Page (probably angry at something)

And more to come.
