Folks, let me tell you—some people take doctor’s advice. Others? They sign liability waivers and go into battle with their jaw wired shut. Je’Von Evans is clearly in that second group. Tremendous commitment, maybe not the best life decision, but hey, that’s why we love pro wrestling.

After weeks of getting his face rearranged by Ethan Page, Evans is officially cleared to compete at NXT Vengeance Day. Now, when I say “cleared,” I don’t mean the doctors were thrilled about it. In fact, NXT General Manager Ava literally begged him to think it through. She even had a doctor in a video package saying, and I paraphrase, “Dude, if you get hit again, things will go from bad to wired shut forever.”

Did Evans hesitate? Of course not. He grabbed that liability waiver and signed it faster than a politician dodging a tough question. Match officially set.

Now, let’s talk about the man who caused this mess: Ethan Page. Back in December, Page had an existential crisis in the ring, whining about “losing his smile” after too many losses. What did Evans do? Like a good, wholesome human, he tried to cheer him up. And how did Page respond? By literally trying to stomp the smile off his face. Very rude. Very unprofessional. Classic villain move.

Since then, Page has continued his streak of unhinged behavior, injuring Dante Chen and putting Evans back on the shelf. But now, Evans is back, wires and all, looking for revenge in Washington, D.C. on February 15. Will he win? Will his jaw survive? Will someone in WWE headquarters realize they’re allowing a man with a wired jaw to compete in a sanctioned fight?

All important questions. And we’ll find out Saturday night at Vengeance Day.
