Folks, TNA is losing another top star, and this time, it’s Josh Alexander, former TNA World Champion and resident suplex machine. According to Fightful Select, Alexander’s contract expires on February 14, meaning he’ll officially be a free agent by the end of this week.
Yes, that means on Valentine’s Day, Alexander and TNA will break up. And unlike your last relationship, this one was expected.
Why Is Alexander Leaving?
- He chose not to extend his deal, but TNA picked up his extra year anyway (because of course they did).
- Being a professional, he honored the deal and continued suplexing people into oblivion for another year.
- Now, he’s officially free to explore new opportunities, and the wrestling world is watching closely.
Where Will Alexander Go?
👀 WWE?
- With TNA and WWE playing nice recently, there’s speculation that Alexander could follow Jordynne Grace and jump to the biggest wrestling company in the world.
- Dave Meltzer believes WWE is the most likely landing spot, meaning expect months of “WWE wasted him” tweets from AEW fans if it happens.
👀 AEW?
- AEW is always looking to add legitimate wrestlers who can snap spines like toothpicks (see: Bryan Danielson, Samoa Joe).
- Financially, they can match WWE’s offer, but will they?
- Creatively, he’d fit right in with AEW’s roster of hard-hitting lunatics.
Final Match in TNA
Before he leaves, Alexander will face Eric Young on the February 13 episode of TNA Impact, marking the end of a wildly successful run that saw him:
🏆 Win the TNA World Championship twice
🏆 Win the TNA Tag Team Championships twice
🏆 Hold the X-Division Championship
🏆 Be named TNA’s Male Wrestler of the Year twice
In other words, he’s leaving TNA as one of its greatest modern stars, and whoever signs him is getting a walking, talking, wrestling cheat code.
Where will The Walking Weapon land? WWE? AEW? New Japan? An indie show in front of 15 people and a hot dog? We’ll find out soon.
