If you tuned into AEW Dynamite on May 28 expecting just a normal match between Adam Cole and Kyle Fletcher, you instead got a moment that nearly turned Cole’s spine into a folding chair.

During an intense AEW TNT Title match, “The Protostar” Kyle Fletcher attempted a powerbomb on the apron, but it went about as well as a text to your ex at 2 AM. Cole missed the apron entirely, landing in a precarious neck-elbow sandwich between metal, gravity, and AEW management’s anxiety.

Given Adam Cole’s concussion history, many backstage reportedly hit the panic button. And while Cole only walked away with a “jacked-up elbow” (that’s a medical term somewhere), the spot ignited immediate outrage among certain AEW staff and talent.

However, according to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, Fletcher does not have heat backstage.
Why?

Because:

  • He genuinely felt awful (big remorse energy).

  • He’s well-liked backstage (no heat, just concern).

  • And let’s be real—this is pro wrestling, where a “safe spot” still involves tables, ladders, and existential risk.

So no, Fletcher won’t be sent to wrestle invisible people on AEW Dark: Parking Lot Edition. Instead, he remains fully cleared for chaos, storyline vengeance, and more future near-death apron experiments.

What’s Next:

At Fyter Fest 2025, during the AEW Collision portion of the event (yes, AEW shows are now split like a soap opera spinoff), Adam Cole pinned Rocky Romero, and post-match, Fletcher and Konosuke Takeshita came out to stare down Cole and Paragon like they were auditioning for a Marvel crossover.

Looks like Fletcher isn’t done chasing that TNT Championship.
Let’s just hope the next match doesn’t involve any more apron-based trauma or the phrase “jacked up” in the injury report.
