Liv Morgan is doing what every WWE Superstar does at some point in their career: fly to Japan, film an action movie, and somehow still hold a tag team title. That’s balance, folks.

Per the fine sleuths at Fightful Select, Morgan has officially begun filming “Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo” — and no, it’s not a Total Divas spin-off, it’s an actual Takashi Miike-directed crime thriller. Wrap your head around that: Liv Morgan, known for Harley Quinn cosplay and top-rope chaos, now playing a kidnapped politician’s daughter in a film directed by the same man who gave us cinematic masterpieces involving 47 swords and at least one demon dog.

The Hollywood Timeline:

  • Morgan flew out to Japan this week

  • Her scenes are expected to wrap by May 16

  • She’s reportedly flying back May 17

  • Meaning she could miss maybe one episode of “WWE Raw,” aka the same amount of time most tag champions ghost after WrestleMania

In-WWE Reality:
In storyline, Liv politely asked Raw General Manager Adam Pearce for time off. (That’s called professionalism, Becky.) She and Raquel Rodriguez are still your WWE Women’s Tag Champs, having reclaimed the titles from Becky Lynch and Lyra Valkyria in a “Wait, we just lost them?” plot twist post-WrestleMania. Their latest defense was on NXT against Tatum Paxley and the now-unemployed Gigi Dolin. So yes, the belts are safe—unless creative decides otherwise at the last possible moment, which we all know never happens…

The Movie Plot (No Chair Shots Included):
Liv plays the daughter of a politician who gets kidnapped, and is being hunted—uh, rescued—by Shun Oguri as a tortured Tokyo lieutenant, alongside Lily James as an FBI agent. So yes, we’re talking international intrigue, neon backdrops, and probably at least one moment where someone jumps off a bullet train.

This is Morgan’s biggest movie gig yet, outside of brief roles in Chucky and The Kill Room. But unlike those cameos, she’s not playing “Liv Morgan the wrestler,” she’s playing an actual character. With lines. In a script. Welcome to the Morgan Cinematic Universe.

When’s She Back in the Ring?
TBD, but if she returns by the May 20 episode of Raw, don’t be surprised if they work a backstage segment with Raquel texting her “U back yet???”
