Folks, Momo Watanabe didn’t just lose her AEW TBS Championship match against Mercedes Mone at AEW Revolution—she may have lost more than that.

According to PWInsider, Watanabe was carried out of the ring after the match, reportedly suffering an ankle injury in the final moments of the bout.

And if you watched that match, you know this was a war.

Watanabe’s Injury: What We Know

💥 Watanabe was already limping as the match neared its conclusion.
💥 She tweaked her ankle coming off the ropes late in the match.
💥 Mone capitalized, dropping her with the Mone Maker and locking in a cross-face submission for the win.
💥 After the bell, Watanabe had to be helped to the back.

As of now, there’s no official update on the severity of the injury, but this could be a major setback for one of AEW’s rising stars.

Watanabe’s Path to the Title Shot

Watanabe earned her shot the hard way, winning the multi-promotional Women’s Cup match at Wrestle Dynasty in the Tokyo Dome, defeating:

ROH’s Athena
CMLL’s Persephone
AEW’s Willow Nightingale

She followed up by making her AEW in-ring debut on Collision, defeating Serena Deeb on her way to Revolution.

Now, after coming so close to dethroning Mercedes Mone, her future is uncertain.

Meanwhile, Mercedes Mone’s Title Reign Continues

Since winning the AEW TBS Championship at Double or Nothing last May, Mone has been collecting championships like Infinity Stones, adding:

🏆 NJPW Strong Women’s Championship
🏆 RevPro Women’s Championship

With Watanabe now sidelined, who will step up next to challenge The CEO?
