In a night that can only be described as “YUGE” (and maybe slightly overbooked), Myles Borne, that noble technician of the No Quarter Catch Crew (NQCC) and certified bringer of pain, shocked the known universe by winning a 25-man battle royal on “NXT.” That’s right, folks—25 competitors, three brands, two surprise eliminations, and at least one very confused TNA Champion later, and we’ve got a new #1 contender.
Borne punched his golden ticket to NXT Battleground: Tampa by outlasting names like Ridge “I Sweat Grit” Holland, EVOLVE’s Sean Legacy (who sounds like a 2004 e-fed character), and surprise entrant Elijah (fka Elias, now with even more guitars and fewer shirts).
🗳 The final four?
-
Je’Von “Young OG” Evans (who they immediately ganged up on, proving no OG is safe),
-
Ethan Page (smirking like a man with a plan that never works),
-
Shawn Spears (still counting to ten),
-
And our hero—Myles “Kicking People Is a Lifestyle” Borne.
In a finish worthy of a conspiracy theory YouTube channel, Borne hit Page with a boot strong enough to violate OSHA codes, and both Page and Spears tumbled out like yesterday’s catering. Call it destiny. Call it dumb luck. Call it that one time the ropes actually cooperated.
Meanwhile, Trick Williams found himself eliminated by Elijah—because nothing says “escalating feud” like Joe Hendry appearing just to smirk ominously like a Scottish meme. That’s storytelling, folks. Better than the “Avengers.”
In a slightly awkward moment, the rest of NQCC came out to celebrate… except Charlie Dempsey, who apparently had “other plans” (read: dramatic brooding). The vibes were victorious, yet vaguely British and disappointed. But that’s Dempsey’s brand.
So what’s next? At Battleground, Borne goes one-on-one with Oba Femi, a man built like Thanos and trained like a freight train with feelings. Will Borne win the title? Will Dempsey pull a Hamlet? Will Hendry sing about it?
Folks, we’ll be watching. Because this is Battleground—and apparently anybody can get tossed over the top rope if you believe hard enough.
