Folks, the Attitude Era is running the WWE writer’s room—and whether that’s good or bad depends on who you ask.

According to reports, former D-Generation X member “Road Dogg” Brian James has been named co-lead writer of WWE SmackDown, joining John Swikata, who took over the role in June. This means WWE’s creative power structure is now officially run by three DX members:
Triple H (Paul Levesque) – Head of WWE Creative
Shawn Michaels – NXT Boss
Road Dogg – SmackDown Co-Lead Writer

And folks, some people are thrilled. Others? Not so much.

Road Dogg Returns—And So Do the Complaints

James previously ran SmackDown from 2016 to 2019, but his tenure is best remembered for… let’s say, questionable decisions. Some fans still have flashbacks to Battleground 2017 (cough Punjabi Prison cough), and the reaction to this news? Not exactly warm.

Making matters worse, this announcement comes right after a widely hated episode of SmackDown, which included a cringe-worthy promo between LA Knight and The Miz. Some fans are already blaming Road Dogg—before he’s even booked his first show back.

Triple H: Mastermind or Master of the Blame Game?

Now, the conspiracy theories are rolling in. Some fans think Triple H is setting Road Dogg up as a scapegoat, conveniently bringing him back right after SmackDown took a beating on social media. The timing? Suspicious. The optics? Messy.

But here’s the thing: whether you love or hate this move, DX is officially running WWE creative. The same guys who told us to “suck it” in 1998 are now booking the biggest shows in the business.

Will SmackDown improve under Road Dogg? Or are we in for another Battleground 2017 situation? Buckle up, folks—it’s gonna be a ride.
