Folks, Orange Cassidy might be the most laid-back guy in pro wrestling, but when it comes to winning? He just keeps doing it.
On AEW Dynamite, Cassidy took on CMLL’s Hechicero in a match that had it all—technical wizardry, big reversals, and an apparent deep-seated hatred for hands in pockets.
With this win, Cassidy now joins Speedball Mike Bailey in next week’s AEW International Championship Eliminator Tournament four-way match, with the winner earning a shot at Kenny Omega at Dynasty.
Hechicero vs. Cassidy – A Battle of Styles
- Step 1: Cassidy frustrated Hechicero early by simply existing and keeping his hands in his pockets.
- Step 2: Hechicero got sick of the nonsense and beat the pockets right off him.
- Step 3: The CMLL star twisted Cassidy like a pretzel, locking in submissions and targeting the leg like a true technician.
- Step 4: Cassidy fought back with his signature underdog energy, landing a crossbody, a tornado DDT, and the Stundog Millionaire (but failing to hit the Orange Punch).
- Step 5: The match ended when Cassidy outmaneuvered Hechicero, countering into the Mouse Trap for the three-count.
What’s Next?
After the match, Speedball Mike Bailey appeared at the top of the ramp, staring down Cassidy as the show went off the air. Next week, they’ll both be in the four-way match to determine Kenny Omega’s next challenger.
Will Cassidy’s signature “try-hard without looking like I’m trying hard” style get him a shot at Omega? Or will Speedball’s feet of fury kick him out of contention?
Either way, Omega is watching closely.
