Well, folks, it’s official—Ricky Starks is now Ricky Saints, because WWE loves renaming people like your mom loves renaming the family dog every time she watches a new soap opera. The former AEW star made it official during NXT, signing his WWE contract in the ring with General Manager Ava. But, in true wrestling fashion, what should’ve been a simple signing turned into absolute mayhem.
As Saints stood there, presumably practicing his new signature, out came Ethan Page—a man who simply cannot mind his own business. “All Ego” told Saints that he had a lot to prove before stepping up to the NXT Championship scene, which led to Saints giving Page a sarcastic standing ovation for his win over Je’Von Evans at Vengeance Day. Clearly, that didn’t sit well, because Evans then appeared out of nowhere to blindside Page, sending them brawling into the crowd like two guys fighting over the last PlayStation at Walmart.
But before Saints could even process what just happened, out came Wes Lee, looking like he had been waiting all day to pick a fight. Lee, still mad that no one has given him a shot at anything lately, demanded to be Saints’ first opponent. Saints responded the only way a man with a fresh new name could—by yeeting Lee out of the ring and then signing his contract like a boss.
Just when you thought things had settled down, backstage chaos ensued. Ava, clearly tired of grown men bickering in her office, solved the issue the old-fashioned way: booking a tag team match. Next week, we’re getting Ricky Saints & Je’Von Evans vs. Ethan Page & Wes Lee, because nothing builds chemistry like two teams that absolutely hate each other.
For those keeping track, this will be Saints’ first televised match since March 30 on AEW Collision, and what a way to reintroduce himself—with a new name, new enemies, and the same level of overconfidence we all know and love.
