Folks, it turns out if you chant hard enough, WWE will reverse a firing, rename a wrestler, and drop new merch before the bell even finishes echoing.
R-Truth, a.k.a. your cousin’s favorite comedy segment, is officially back in WWE, now wrestling under his shoot name—Ron Killings. The return became canon at Money in the Bank when he showed up in a hoodie, punched John Cena in the legacy, and helped Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso win the main event.
The Backstory: From Exit Notice to Hoodie Hero
Just days before MITB, WWE reportedly told Truth his contract wouldn’t be renewed. Fans immediately responded with “We Want Truth” chants that echoed across multiple WWE shows like the ghost of tag partners past.
In true WWE fashion, the response wasn’t a press release. It was a surprise run-in, a hot crowd pop, and an Attitude Adjustment interruptus. That’s how business is done, baby.
According to PWInsider, WWE re-signed Truth in the aftermath of the fan outcry—but under his real name, Ron Killings, at least for now. It’s unclear if this is a long-term rebrand or just a way to make a “we listened to you” moment feel slightly more official.
New Name, Same Shenanigans
Shortly after MITB, WWE Shop dropped a new shirt with “Ron Killings” splashed across the front—because if there’s one thing WWE can do faster than retract a release, it’s monetize nostalgia.
Truth/Killings had reportedly been discussing indie appearances earlier in the week, which means this comeback may have been put together faster than a 24/7 title change.
As for what’s next? That depends on how far WWE leans into the “Ron Killings Era.” Will it be serious? Silly? Tagging with Lil’ Jimmy again but under his government name? Time will tell. But one thing’s for sure:
The Truth has set himself free… and rebranded.
