The Celtic Warrior is back, fella! And not just back anywhere—back in Belfast, where the crowd was hotter than a microwaved meat pie. After a brief post-Rumble hiatus, Sheamus made his long-awaited return to WWE action during the company’s European tour, lacing up the boots in his homeland to once again go banger-for-banger with Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker.
Spoiler alert: it was Banger #4, and also Loss #4. But hey, if at first you don’t succeed, try again until Bron gets called up to Raw full-time or forgets how to Gorilla Press Slam people.
Before the match, Sheamus posted on X (formerly known as “Twitter, but with an identity crisis”):
“The boy is back in town.”
Which, honestly, could be the official anthem of every Sheamus return. That, and “BROGUE KICK PARTY STARTER.”
The Belfast crowd roared for their hometown hammer, but despite the fiery entrance and passionate performance, Breakker retained, proving once again that the Intercontinental Title has more gatekeepers than Fort Knox. Sheamus has now challenged for that belt four times, and yet it remains the one championship he hasn’t held—the final Infinity Stone in his Grand Slam Gauntlet.
Earlier this year at the 2025 Royal Rumble, Sheamus put in a solid 15-minute shift in the men’s match, only to be unceremoniously yeeted out by Roman Reigns, which is basically his thing. If Sheamus had won, he planned to chase Breakker’s title and complete his collection—because nothing says “career validation” like a midcard belt with a legacy and a lot of plates.
Meanwhile, Breakker’s been breaking more than just dreams, recently defending the title against Finn Bálor in Brussels. And apparently, mutual trauma builds friendship, because Sheamus and Balor were later spotted clinking beers together like two Irish legends bonding over their shared Intercontinental pain.
Sheamus posted:
“A Sheamus [vs.] Balor feud would feed generations, even tho I love the lad. Thank you #WWEBelfast.”
Accompanied by a photo of the two men smiling, beer in hand, possibly toasting to either brotherhood or mutually assured Breakker beatings.
Bottom line: Sheamus is back, he’s banged-up, and he’s still banging out bangers. The Intercontinental Title may be dodging him like it’s enrolled in witness protection, but the dream of Grand Slam glory lives on. Probably somewhere in Dublin. In a pub. Waiting.
