Just days after Jacob Fatu sent shockwaves through WrestleMania 41 by snatching the United States Championship from LA Knight, the celebration inside the Bloodline’s war camp has taken a bit of a hit — because Tama Tonga is out with an injury.
According to reports from BodySlam.net and PWN’s Cody Whoades, Tonga is on medical leave to deal with a currently undisclosed condition. The specifics are fuzzy, but there’s talk of possible surgery being on the table, which means this isn’t your standard kayfabe “crushed ribs from backstage drama” kind of situation.
Tonga hasn’t been seen on WWE programming since April 18’s SmackDown, when an enraged LA Knight staged a parking lot ambush on the Bloodline that looked like the start of a Fast & Furious reboot. Sources say that segment was designed to write Tonga off TV — not the cause of the injury itself.
Tonga also skipped WrestleMania Saturday, where Fatu walked out alone with Solo Sikoa as backup — noticeably missing his usual corner squad. His absence left fans wondering where the rest of the Bloodline muscle was. Now we know: Tonga’s down, and Tonga Loa is also recovering from injury, leaving Solo and Fatu as the last men standing for now.
Over the past year, the former NJPW star has been a vital part of Sikoa’s reformed Bloodline, capturing Tag Team gold and delivering a new aura of dominance. But with half the crew on the sidelines, the faction’s next chapter is cloudier than ever.
Will Sikoa and Fatu ride solo? Or is it time for some unexpected recruitment (Cough Jacob’s cousin with the tattoos cough)?
Stay tuned. The Bloodline’s injury bug might just be the next storyline twist no one saw coming.
