In what can only be described as Tony Khan’s favorite pastime besides energy drinks and surprise signings, we’ve got ourselves another AEW Title Eliminator, folks. And this time, the chaos is aimed squarely at the Wilde Woman of the Wig-Wearing Renaissance, “Timeless” Toni Storm.
Late Tuesday night—because of course he waits until after everyone’s brushed their teeth—Khan hit “send” on a classic Tony Tweet, announcing that Storm will face Thunder Rosa, Anna Jay, and Penelope Ford in a four-way eliminator match on this week’s Dynamite. That’s right—three challengers, one champion, zero sanity.
Toni’s Busy Era:
Since fending off Megan Bayne at AEW Dynasty, Storm has been accepting challenges like she’s got performance bonuses tied to screen time. She’s already dealt with Queen Aminata, Miyu Yamashita, and Lady Frost in what we now call the “Post-Dynasty Trial Series™.” She’s undefeated in title eliminators, but hey, running the table has its risks—especially when the table keeps adding legs.
The Challengers:
-
Thunder Rosa – Toni’s former tag partner in Thunder Tits (we do not name the tag, we simply acknowledge it happened), now likely seeking closure or vengeance.
-
Anna Jay – Once of the Dark Order, now a free agent of chaos and occasional headlock.
-
Penelope Ford – A walking vintage filter with a mean streak and great eyeliner precision.
Meanwhile in Other Title Drama:
-
Okada is giving Kevin Knight the Continental Classic equivalent of a puncher’s chance—if Knight wins, he earns a shot. If not, he gets a very polite New Japan-flavored beatdown.
-
Moxley vs. Samoa Joe is coming in hot next week with a steel cage match, but first Joe has to slap-fight Claudio Castagnoli, because apparently AEW scheduling is built on dares.
Looking Ahead:
No matter what happens in the four-way, Storm will still have to deal with the looming winner of Jamie Hayter vs. Mercedes Moné, which goes down at Double or Nothing with an Owen Hart Cup AND a title shot at All In on the line. Hayter will also appear on Dynamite tonight for a sit-down with Renee Paquette, aka the AEW therapist with microphones.
So what do we have?
-
A champion drowning in contenders
-
A four-way that’s 60% grudge, 40% fashion
-
And a Tony Khan announcement tweet that may have been typed mid-cartwheel
Tune in. Because if Toni Storm’s going down, she’s doing it in a feather boa and Oscar-ready monologue.
