In a move that screamed “hold my belt,” Tony Khan stepped out after AEW Collision with a glint in his eye and—surprise!—another championship in his hands. This time, it’s the brand-new ROH Women’s Pure Championship, because clearly, Tony’s going for the Guinness World Record in “most belts revealed by one caffeinated billionaire.”

The announcement came post-show in the arena, where Khan did his usual high-energy, slightly breathless mic work and confirmed that the first Women’s Pure Champion will be crowned at ROH’s Supercard of Honor on May 2, 2025, live from the Adrian Phillips Theater at Boardwalk Hall in glorious Atlantic City — where hopes, dreams, and blackjack hands go to die.

Now, ROH’s women’s division wasn’t exactly title-starved to begin with. Athena, current and forever ROH Women’s World Champion, is in day 850+ of her reign. That’s not a typo — she’s held the title longer than most friendships last. Then there’s the ROH Women’s World Television Championship, held by Red Velvet, who became the second champ in 2023 and has been stirring up competition ever since.

So what makes this new belt different?

It’s the Pure Championship — which in ROH tradition means stricter rules, clean grappling, and likely one very stressed referee. While men have had their version of the Pure title (read: no closed fists, no shenanigans, and rope breaks that matter), now the women’s division gets its own flavor of technical warfare. In short: no cheating, all wrestling, and yes, Tony probably designed the belt on a napkin during a caffeine high.

Khan also hinted at more big picture ROH changes, revealing he’s been talking TV deals, both in the U.S. and internationally. He’s in no rush though — saying he’s waiting for the “best deal possible,” presumably one that includes unlimited airtime, five cameras per suplex, and a title reveal clause every quarter.

So mark your calendars, Atlantic City. On May 2, a new champ will be crowned, a new era will begin, and somewhere in the crowd, a fan will say, “Wait, how many belts does ROH have again?”
