Mercedes Moné, also known as the CEO of Collecting Belts and Flying Internationally With Zero Sleep, is officially booked for a three-way showdown at NJPW Resurgence on May 9 in Ontario, Canada. That’s right — the NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship is on the line, and Moné will defend it against not one, but two contenders: AZM and Mina Shirakawa. Because apparently, wrestling schedules now double as cardio plans.
The match was born out of the classic wrestling formula: inconclusive chaos + backstage beef + Rocky Romero with a microphone = three-way title bout.
At Windy City Riot, STARDOM’s AZM and the AEW-bound Mina Shirakawa were supposed to figure out who got the honor of being suplexed by Moné. But instead of resolving anything, they brawled to a double count out and then continued throwing hands backstage like it was a reality show reunion.
Rocky Romero, the Swiss Army Knife of wrestling diplomacy, stepped in to declare: Why not both? So now, AZM vs. Shirakawa vs. Moné is locked in for Resurgence, giving fans a sequel to 2023’s Sakura Genesis triple threat and a rematch from Wrestle Dynasty, where Moné previously clipped both competitors in high-profile defenses.
But hold your Moné merch — this isn’t the only stop on her calendar. Before she even makes it to Canada, the CEO has:
-
April 16 – Owen Hart Tournament Match vs. Athena on AEW Dynamite
(Spoiler alert: This will be violent. And excellent.) -
April 20 – RevPro High Stakes in the UK to defend the RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Title against Kanji
So that’s:
-
Three titles
-
Three countries
-
One month
-
Zero rest days
Moné is either redefining what it means to be a fighting champion or operating on coffee, ambition, and time zone denial.
One thing’s for sure: come May 9, Ontario better be ready. Because when the CEO clocks in, she brings receipts, reversals, and runway gear.
