Folks, Will Ospreay isn’t here to mess around. He’s got one goal in mind: headlining AEW All In and winning the AEW World Championship. And how does he plan to get there? By entering the 2025 Owen Hart Memorial Cup Tournament and winning his way to a title shot.
Ospreay made his intentions loud and clear on AEW Dynamite this week, fresh off looking like he went through a car crash in his brutal steel cage match against Kyle Fletcher at Revolution. Battered, bruised, but still running his mouth at full speed, Ospreay laid out what’s next:
- He acknowledged that Cope and Moxley will destroy each other next week in a street fight for the AEW World Title.
- He noted that Swerve Strickland is next in line for a shot at AEW Dynasty in April.
- But then, Ospreay made his move: announcing his entry into “The Owen” tournament, aiming for a guaranteed title match at All In on July 12 in Arlington, Texas.
A Tough Road Ahead?
AEW hasn’t announced the official start date for the Owen Hart Tournament yet, but historically, the competition has been stacked. Last year, Bryan Danielson outlasted Adam Page in the final, earning a shot at Swerve Strickland at All In where he actually won the title.
Could Ospreay follow in Danielson’s footsteps and use The Owen as his stepping stone to AEW gold? Given his absolute tear through AEW so far, it wouldn’t be surprising.
Ospreay’s Path to the AEW Title: A Matter of When, Not If
Ever since signing with AEW, Ospreay has made it clear: He’s here to be the guy. And now, he’s plotting his rise to the top.
Whether he wins The Owen or not, one thing is obvious—Will Ospreay will be a world champion sooner rather than later. It’s just a matter of who’s unlucky enough to be holding the belt when he gets his shot.
