BREAKING: A champion is hurt, but guess what? The show must go on. Reports are swirling that one of the two champions in the NXT Women’s Title vs. Women’s North American Title match at Roadblock is dealing with an injury—and that’s why this high-stakes match is happening in the first place.
Because in wrestling, when someone needs time off, the solution is always MORE WRESTLING.
SO, WHO’S INJURED?
On Tuesday’s NXT, General Manager Ava pulled out her best “let’s make this seem totally normal” voice and announced that Giulia (NXT Women’s Champion) and Stephanie Vaquer (Women’s North American Champion) will face off in a DOUBLE TITLE MATCH at Roadblock. Tremendous news, right?
Well, Bryan Alvarez quickly raised an eyebrow, wondering why this match was even happening so soon. And then he found out: one of these women is hurt and needs time off. He didn’t say who, but reports from WrestlePurists and PWInsider Elite confirm it’s Giulia.
GIULIA IS INJURED… BUT SHE’S STILL WRESTLING?!
Yes, because this is pro wrestling, folks. Giulia is reportedly banged up, but she’s still going to work the match. No word on the exact nature of the injury yet, but she’s going in no matter what.
Giulia won the NXT Women’s Championship on January 7 at New Year’s Evil, where she defeated Roxanne Perez. She’s already defended it against Perez again (because why not?), Bayley, and Cora Jade at Vengeance Day. But now, her match against Vaquer at Roadblock could be her last for a while.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR ROADBLOCK (AND BEYOND)
🚨 Two titles on the line – because when in doubt, make things bigger.
🚨 One champion is probably dropping their belt – because injuries don’t care about booking plans.
🚨 Stephanie Vaquer could walk out a double champ – because momentum, baby.
One way or another, Roadblock just became must-watch TV. Will Giulia push through the pain? Will Vaquer leave with all the gold? Will WWE finally acknowledge that wrestlers aren’t actually superheroes? Find out March 11.
