In a move more surprising than a sudden heel turn, WWE continues its cleaning spree in NXT, waving goodbye to not one, but 11 stars, with Boa being the latest to get the boot! PWInsider has the scoop: Boa, the martial arts maven from Beijing, has been swept out with Friday’s trash.
Boa’s journey began with high kicks and high hopes at a 2016 Shanghai tryout, where he flipped, kicked, and Jiu-Jitsu’d his way into a WWE contract. He tag-teamed with Xia Li, who also found herself on the recent chopping block post-WrestleMania 40. Boa’s last dance in the NXT ring was at a house show in Fort Pierce, Florida, where he and Dante Chen faced off against Duke Hudson and Riley Osborne in what would unknowingly be one of his final WWE showcases.
The fan-favorite from Beijing had his last televised brawl in January 2022 on “NXT 2.0”, battling it out with Solo Sikoa in a no-holds-barred, no-disqualification match—a falls count anywhere spectacle. His swan song in the squared circle was on “WWE NXT Level Up”, where he and Chen grappled with Hank Walker and Tank Ledger in a tag team tussle this past October.
This latest wave of releases sees Boa joining the ranks of the recently released Drew Gulak, Valentina Feroz, and Trey Bearhill, among others. WWE’s NXT, once a burgeoning breeding ground for raw talent, is now seeing a startling exodus, raising eyebrows and questions alike about the future of these once-celebrated athletes and the brand itself.
With a locker room that’s thinning faster than the plot of a soap opera, one has to wonder: Who’s next on the chopping block, and what’s WWE’s endgame with these sudden cuts? As the dust settles, fans and fighters alike are left pondering the fate of their favorite NXT stars. Stay tuned, because in the world of WWE, anything can happen!
